This week I talk about creating screen casts using Jing, a free (for now) project by the folks at TechSmith.

Screen casting is a great way to help others and share information in a visual manner. Reading instructions is all well and good, but visual learning takes the cake in my book. Have a watch and start sharing your knowledge with the world…!

This week I took a little road trip to a friends house (Bill) to help re-install his Windows box. Bill recently purchased a name brand PC which came preloaded with a bunch of nasty bloatware (e.g. applications you DON’T need). I recommend we just wipe the drive clean and start fresh. We go into the steps of reformatting and installing both Windows XP and Windows Vista (don’t worry, I will make a special show for my Mac family).

I do feel bad though, I was so concerned with jamming a bunch of information in a short period, I barely let Bill talk at all! My apologies… But as you will see, he was thinking of a lot of awesome things…

Keep in mind, the steps covered in this episode can be utilized for an old machine that just needs a fresh start as well. Heck, I used to reformat / reinstall about every 6 months in my Windows days. I have now seen the light and have graduated to Mac OS X (I know, I know, that was a cheap shot!).
