Today I step up my backup solution with the addition of a Drobo. I have only had this unit a short while and I already lovin’ it! Why? One word, simplicity. It’s the easiest redundant backup solution I have ever used. You do pay a slight premium for such ease of use, but the benefits far outweigh the cost in my opinion. That being said, its not the fasting thing on earth, but if you are like me and are just looking for safe storage, this unit is perfect. And if you’re not currently backing up, you better start… if you care about your data. Because it’s not a matter of IF the the drive will fail, but WHEN the drive will fail.

I kind of threw this episode together just to show the thing off and increase awareness about backing up. If you want more information, check out the Data Robotics website. They have all the details you need.

This week I talk about shooting in the RAW (and I don’t mean nude) and taking shots using bulb or long exposure. RAW files give you all the information that was captured by your camera, where as JPEGs are just compressed versions of that RAW data. Part of the show was shot within Apples Aperture software. Now, I don’t explain how to use the software, but rather just show the differences between RAW and JPEG files. If you are new to RAW shooting, give it a try and see if your shots improve.

I also talk about how to get those cool bulb shots you see… whether its a lighting bolt or zooming cars, I will give you the simple secret to nabbing that shot.
